Lynn's Lip Conditioning Tips

‘Tis (almost) the season for many wonderful things – cozy sweaters, hot teas, getting ready for the holiday season, the list goes on! However, one unwanted feature of colder temperatures is definitely cracked and chapped lips.

Now is the time to take care of your lips- to keep them hydrated, healthy and to prevent lines and unwanted peeling. Read Lynn’s tips below on how to revive your lips and keep the cold’s effects at bay!

  1. Scrub

First thing, which may seem counterintuitive, is to exfoliate your lips. A gentle lip exfoliator, such as Ilia’s Balmy nights, with pumice (volcanic) stone powder, healthily revives your lips and gives you the perfect foundation - to deeply nourish with your lip balm – the result is smooth lips as the perfect foundation to either go nude or dab on a pop of color!

 

You can also use Lynn’s at home lip scrub recipe with vitamin, mineral and antioxidant-rich ingredients to give your lip a good scrubbing:

What you’ll need:

½ tablespoon Olive Oil

1 tablespoon Brown sugar

1 tablespoon Honey

*you can also add 1 tablespoon of White sugar for a grainier texture (the photos are of course, terrible, its just for you to know how it turned out. I didn’t use white sugar)

Instructions

Mix all of your ingredients in a small bowl and massage onto your lips for 20-30 seconds. Clean, wipe off, and you’ll be ready to apply your balm!

  1. Balm it up!

Hydrate your lips with a moisturizing balm, such as Ilia’s Balmy Days or RMS’ Lip & Skin Balm. Whether as a bedtime routine or as a touch up on the go, these lip balms are an easy and enjoyable addition to your skincare routine that delivers long-term results.

Tip: at night, after a lip scrub give time for the nourishing oils to soak into your lips while you sleep – wake up to plumped and hydrated lips, ready for a pop of color!

  1. Add your lipstick, lip tint or go au naturel!

Whether you choose to go bold and put on a lipstick, build a more subtle pop of color and dab on Tata Harper’s Volumizing lip and cheek tint that helps fill vertical lines or RMS’ lip2cheek or go au naturel, the previous steps will help give you a foundation for hydrated lips.

Here are some of the hero clean ingredients found in the balms we carry:
